It's quite possible that the images I posted (built from openembedded / Angstrom reference images) don't have ubifs support. I only booted the images via NFS to "smoke-test" them and haven't tried booting them out of FLASH ... Michael Williamson

Thanks for your help with the filesystems - I grabbed one of the the new small filesystems from the Wiki and attempted to use it from NAND.

Currently, the MityARM-3359 does not come with the NOR or NAND preprogrammed with u-Boot or a kernel.
The MityARM-3359 supports first stage bootloading (i.e., loading u-Boot) from NAND. It can boot from a SPI-NOR device ... Michael Williamson

You can certainly load the kernel and mount the root filesystem over the network on the dev board, we do it all the time.
What you can't do (on the dev board) is boot completely over the network (i.e. have the ROM bootloader load ... Tim Iskander
